| Mass Deportation at UC Berkeley, Too Good to be True? |
|
The University of California system is having more fun simulating imaginary events. In November students at UCSB participated in a “die in,” intended to express how a raise in fee hikes is killing them. Naturally, UC Berkeley couldn't be outdone by their Santa Barbara peers, so on April 30th the radical student body simulated a mass deportation, in protest of the Arizona Immigration Bill (SB 1070), which they call “a threat to justice everywhere” and “racist in every way.” The protesters demonstrated their ignorance on the issue by arguing the bill encourages racial profiling, when section two of the bill states the bill “may not solely consider race, color, or national origin” in addition to other 4th amendment rights. Moreover, it may end up limiting racial profiling, as it requires officers to obtain proof of citizenship, rather than relying upon an officer’s discretion. Further, an officer must contact ICE when they have detained a suspect to ensure the person is really here illegally. Brisa Diaz, a sophomore was quoted “I have a sister in Arizona that is an undocumented (illegal non-citizen) immigrant, and she faces problems just driving or getting a job on a day to day basis.” To be clear to Ms. Diaz, she broke the law, came here illegally and is now paying the price for breaking the law. The US values the rule of law, which amongst the radical campus environment, good law equals a crime. Diaz continued, “SB 1070 is racist in every way, it's illegal and there's no way around that.” Diaz is a great example of how liberal activists on campus are allergic to facts. This is already a federal law not being enforced. The people of Arizona, (70% of which approve of the bill), are being drowned by the continuous flow of illegals across the border. How can the state protect its people if they don't know who is in it? Ms. Diaz is just an uninformed malcontented member of the unrestricted open borders crowd, which overwhelms campuses. When students who care about the rule of law that preserves this great land speak up for their values, they are met with protests and riots. It was seen at UNC Chapel Hill with the lecture by Tom Tancredo and DePaul University with Chris Simcox, the founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps. CampusLIE figures the only way this could have been productive is if these ignorant leftist actually mass deported their protest to another land, because the UC system has a liberal overpopulation issue like Arizona has an illegal immigration problem.
