Diversity Disasters

When Beer Summits Go Wrong

A professor from Columbia University in New York was having a discussion with another staff member about "white privilege" at a bar, when he punched her in the face.

The New York Post writes:

"A prominent Columbia architecture professor punched a female university employee in the face at a Harlem bar during a heated argument about race relations, cops said yesterday.

Police busted Lionel McIntyre, 59, for assault yesterday after his bruised victim, Camille Davis, filed charges.

McIntyre and Davis, who works as a production manager in the school's theater department, are both regulars at Toast, a popular university bar on Broadway and 125th Street, sources said.

The professor, who is black, had been engaged in a fiery discussion about "white privilege" with Davis, who is white, and another male regular, who is also white, Friday night at 10:30 when fists started flying, patrons said."

While this is not an official Beer Summit in the form that CampusLIE has pursued, they were technically forging a discussion on white privilege over a beer.

Blacks Only: Hampton U disgusted at sight of diversity

-By Warner Todd Huston

Hampton U

Hampton University in Virginia made a huge mistake. They took Barack Obama’s post racial world idea and, thinking it was already here, anointed a white chick as its “Miss Hampton University” pageant winner. Now some of the black students are mad that the traditionally black university named a white girl as “Miss Hampton U.”

Ooopsie.

"Boot Camp" helps only minority doctoral candidates get jobs

A seminar at UC San Francisco (UCSF) tries to give minority doctoral students guidance in obtaining research jobs after receiving their doctorates.

The UCSF Today writes:

"AGEP aims to increase the number of underrepresented minorities obtaining graduate degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics, and to enhance minority scholars’ preparation for careers in academia.

Those goals are closely aligned with the UCSF’s own efforts to promote diversity throughout the campus community — a key component of the UCSF Strategic Plan."

Only amongst the left is it acceptable to hire based on race as part of a "Strategic Plan." Does anybody else believe this is telling them that they need more help than whites in obtaining these research positions too? That it says they can't do it without it?

Read the full story. You don't have to though because you just got the most important part of it here that no university site will reveal to you.

DePaul: Viva la Mexico!

DePaul flew the Mexican flag outside their downtown “loop” campus for Mexican Independence Day.  This is another event in a pattern of neglecting American history (positive history) in favor of accommodating political correctness and pandering to diversity interests.

Mexican Flag

The past week has proved to be an example of this pattern. DePaul, officially failed to recognize the anniversary of the terror attacks of 9/11 (again), but 5 days later honors the country of Mexico’s 199th birthday. Why DePaul has decided to fly the Mexican flag, rather than honor the victims of those horrific attacks less than a decade ago, is unclear.

CampusLIE is reaching DePaul for comment on the matter.

Bill Ayers to speak at Purdue

Bill the bomber

Former terrorist, William Ayers, will be speaking at Purdue University's inaugural Cummings-Perrucci Annual Lecture on Class, Race and Gender Equality put on by the sociology department (go figure). He will be lecturing on the topic “Inequality and Education: The Challenge for Urban Schools." Ayers, a senior lecturer at the University of Illinois at Chicago, was a co-founder of the Weather Underground terrorist organization that bombed the State Department, US Capitol Building, and several police departments.

The selection of Ayers to speak on the panel has drawn complete outrage from members of the campus community and Indiana overall. Members of the university maintain that he was selected solely based on his competence in the field of education. It's unfortunate that he is speaking at Purdue, but it's more unfortunate that he speaks at a university (U of Illinois at Chicago) everyday for a paycheck.

While the selection of Ayers adds notoriety to this event, the core issue should be the fact that this event would probably host a leftist bias regardless. We will bet the house that there will be no conservative or free market based solutions or thinking discussed on this panel. That's the real crime...

... aside from the bombings.

CampusLIE will be following the reactions to Ayers' appearance at Purdue.
